GoVettes FAQ
Since we are a developing community, we value your input as to how we can make our site easier to use. This is to develop comprehensive support to our users. As more and more people use our site, we will be developing our help section to answer some of our most frequently asked questions.
We need YOUR help in making this the best Corvette community available, and the best thing you can do to is just let us know if you have any questions and concerns. If you do, Contact Us, or join in our live support. This will be of utmost importance while we develop a 'helpful' help seciton!

Site Access
What parts of the site you can and cannot enter depends on your membership level. If you are not able to access a part of our site, please refer to the Membership Benifits chart--you may need to upgrade your membership to have access to more features available on GoVettes.
Remember that the public areas(including the Public Forum) are the only areas available to Free Star Members, although Bronze, Silver, and Gold Members may use them, too. To use even the public areas YOU MUST REGISTER. Registry is open to anyone over the age of 18 with a valid Email address. If you are a Star Member and you want to access the Premium features like the forums and chats, as well as other features, you can upgrade your membership here.
If you are still not able to use a part of the site and are sure you should have access, please Contact Us or use our live help feature. There may be a problem we need to address.

For full instructions on how to create and edit your Show Space and its individual modules, please see the Show Space section in the public Forum. For specific problems, please read below. If a question or issue you are having is not addressed here, Please contact us so we can help you.
Q: It will not let me add a module.
A: What modules you may add depends on your membership level. If you are a star member, you are only allowed the profile module. To add comments, videos, pictures, and friends lists to your show space you must upgrade your membership. If you are sure your membership level allows the module you are trying to add, plese contact us, as it may be something we need to address.
Q: I added the video/music upload module and it is not playing the video or music that I uploaded.
A: First, be sure the file was fully uploaded. When you go to the 'upload' page of the module, does it show that the file you uploaded? If it does and is still not playing, make sure it is in an accepted file type (if it is not 'invalid file type' should be displayed). If you are sure the file is in an acepted file type, try deleting the module and re-adding it. Contact us if you continue to experience problems.
Q: When I try to add a file to the video upload module, or picture album, it takes a really long time and 'times out.'
A; The file you are attempting to upload is too large. Try making the file smaller or choosing a smaller file to upload should fix the problem.
Q: It will not let me add/delete/move a module.
A: Please contact us, it may be a problem we need to address. Remember, Star members are allowed to add ONLY the Profile module.

Q: Why can't I post new events?
A: All registered users can post new events by using our easy Events Form. If you have any trouble with the form, please let us know and Contact Us. We will address any issues, and add your event manually.
Q: What info do you need to add an event?
A: Event type, Host, Location Address, and a description. We also will need the contact infromation for the show's coordinator and event website URL, if there is one.
Q: Can I upload my show's flyer?
A: Yes! The flyer has to be in .JPEG .GIF .BMP. or .PDF format, and you can upload a logo, but all pics and flyers must be in a supported format.
Q. I am the authorized representative of a club. Do I have to use the Events form?
A. No. Authorized club representatives may add events directly to the Events page. When logged in as your club, 'Add New Event' will appear underneath the 'Post and Event' paragraph. Click this and you can directly input your show information and upload multiple photos.

Go Shopping
At this point, our online store is not operational. Our plan is to open as soon as possible, so don't try to purchase online. If you see something you want in our malls, you may call in an order. Come back soon, it will be up and running in the near future.
We are currently developing our help section and tailoring it to potential issues our users may encounter. For the time being, if you have trouble with the shopping cart, checking out and completing your order, please Contact Us immediately. We need your help in making our online store convenient and easy to use. Here are some questions we have had already.
Q: What's with the Malls? What are they?
A: Our products are organized into Reigonal Malls depending on each of our product suppliers' locations. Ordering products from your reigon or reigons close to you saves you not only time in shipping, but money in shipping charges. By ordering parts and products close to you, you also support business in your area. These are all features exclusive to Govettes--with online shopping at other large stores you rarely know where the products are sent from--sometimes other countries! This system gives you the power to choose locally who gets your business, and you can save money, too.
Q: So why have a National Mall?
A: The products in the National Mall are from a National distributer.
Q: So do I have to search in each individual mall to find products?
A: Yes. Our products are organized by location. If you don't see what you're looking for in your area, try checking the next closest Mall, or the National Mall. Within the Malls, Products are arranged by Corvette type, and universal Corvette Products will be either under GoVettes or

Go Forums
Q: It won't let me see/post/reply in the forums.
A: Check your Membership Benifits at our comparison chart. You may need to upgrade your Membership to access or post to that Forum. If you are a Basic User, you are only allowed to post to the Public Forums
Q: I am a Gold/Silver/Bronze member and I am having trouble seeing/posting/replying in a forum.
A: Please Contact Us. It may be a problem we need to fix.
Q: When I try to post a picture to a forum post it takes a really long time and 'times out.'
A: The file may be too large. Try adjusting the pixel width and length in a program like microsoft paint. For the Forums we have a 300 pixel length and width maximum.
Q: My club isn't in the Club talk forum. Why not?
A: It's just that no one has put in a request for your club to be included in the Club Talk Forum. Contact Us or let us know in the the Live Support Feature and we'll open a Forum for your club. Easy as that.
Q: I have some good ideas for Forum Topics or ways to make the Forums better. Would you all consider them?
A: Here at GoVettes we are really open minded, and value our members' input. Don't hesitate to let us know if you have any ideas for Forum topics, or anything else.

Go Classifieds
Q: It won't let me add a part or car to the for sale listings.
A: Although all registered users are allowed a certain number of posts to our wanted listings, only Bronze, Silver, Gold Members and Vendors are allowed to post to For Sale listings.
Q: I am authorized to use the listings, but when I go to update my part or car it dosen't seem to work.
A: You have to make sure all the information is input correctly. It will tell you if you need to change anything, or if you have forgotten to fill out a field. After you click 'update' scroll up and it will tell you what to fix. For example, the price may not include commas or a dollar sign, but may include a decimal. When your listing is processed, it should take you to the manager page. If you are still having problems, Contact Us.
Q: I have just created a listing, but it is not showing up.
A: Some listings(for example, Personals) need to be authorized by and administrator. This may take a little while. If it has been longer than a few hours, contact us and we will adress any issues.

Right now, access to Vendor Booths is not allowed. Everyone may veiw the Vendor Booths that have already been created.

Vendors may also use this way of contacting us if you would like us to carry your products in our store or services listing.

Site registration is now up! If you are not registered, go ahead and sign up. For now, though, we invite ALL users to post to the forums and explore parts of the site that will later be reserved for our Members only.
So use it now becuase soon a lot of the site won't be accessible unless you are a registered user!

Q: How can I view/change my account Information?
A: Your Govettes account information can be viewed by clicking your name in yellow at the top of the page. Here, you can change any of your account informaiton, email address and display name and login. Don't forget to click 'update' at the bottom of the page to save any information you may have changed.
Q: How can I find out how many rewards points I have?
A: Your rewards points can be seen on the homepage whenever you are logged on. It is on the middle right hand side of the page, to the right of your message notification and above your Show Space picture. This indicator is not updated automatically, so if you or someone in you member group buys something from the store, it may take a little while for it to show up.
Q: How do I find out my referral code?
A: Your referral code is your username you use to sign in to the GoVettes Website. Remember, this is NOT your display name--the name that everyone sees when you post to the forums or chats. When your friend uses your display name whtn they sign up, you get rewards points for their purchases, so spread the word!
Q: How do i find out who is in my member group?
A: All you have to do is go to My Member Group on the left hand menu bar. Input your username into the 'Members group' search field. It will bring up everyone who is signed up using your referral code.
Q: How do I change my Password?
A: You may change your password by clicking your name in yellow at the top of the page.
Q: How do I set up my GoVettes Email Account?
A: Your account is automatically set up be yourusername@govettes.com. Also, emails sent to your new GoVettes email address will automatically forwarded to the email account you used when you registered. To change your email address, forwarding information, or other options you can login to our email system. Your password to access your email will be the same as your GoVettes password.
Q: I forgot my GoVettes password or my email password!
A: Please send us an email requesing a pasasword change and you will recieve an email with your new password

Basic Features
Show Space--Profile Only - We allow our Star Members to set up and customize a Show Space. Star Members have access only to use the profile module. Other customizations are available with Bronze, Silver, and Gold Memberships.
Limited Wanted Listings, Trades, and Personals - All registered members may post a certain number of listings to our members classifieds. Star Members may only post 5 listings to the Wanted and Trades Classifieds, and one post to the Personals.
Show Space Profile--All Available Features - Park your Corvette--and yourself here! All Bronze, Silver, and Gold Members have access to all Show Space Features Available. Show off your Vette, Pics from the last show, and network with friends! You're nobody here until you have a customized Show Space. This is how your friends will be able to find you, leave you comments, and add you as a friend. Don't get the picture? Look at some of our members' spaces and see what we're talking about when we say you shouldn't be without a Show Space!
Limited Classifieds Postings - Premium features include 5 For Sale by Members postings, unlimited Wanted postings, Unlimited Trades, and Personals. Not just for cars and used parts, but you can sell the kitchen sink. Literally. As long as it's legal, you can try and sell it here at GoVettes!
GoVettes Email Address - Each member receives and email address from GoVettes. Your first name followed by a period with your last name is used to create you GoVettes address, i.e., gary.shutes@govettes.com. If that name is taken, we try with initials and so forth. Once address name is created, we set it up to forward to the email address from your membership registration. You receive instructions on how you can set up outlook and/or show you how to use the email system within GoVettes. That way you can login to GoVettes only once and get all your email and friend’s messages, forum reply notices and more. A second account also receives an email address.
GoVettes WebMail System - As mentioned above, you have a complete email webmail system here at GoVettes and is accessible from the Internet worldwide. You can also set the system up to check all your other email accounts that you may have so that you receive all your mail in one convenient place at your Corvette Home.
GoVettes Site Messaging System - This is where you can create messages and send to your GoVettes friends that are members at GoVettes--A great way to keep your email traffic down but still have messages from all your GoVettes friends.
Premium Features
Family Membership - With Silver or Gold Membership you get and additional Bronze level Membership, FREE! Many members will use this to showcase a second Vette, or it may be used my another member of the family. This includes the second Email Adress, too!
Unlimited Calssifieds Posting - Post unlimited listings to all members classifieds/ Includes Wanted, Trade, For Sale, and Personals.
Premium Pro Features
Private Hosted Webspace 50MB (Your Own Name) - For Gold and Club memberships this is a great benefit. First, you select your web address that we register, i.e., www.yourname.com. Once the name clears, we will notify you via email with instructions on how to get started. If you have a website already, then it can be moved to the new space to be hosted by GoVettes. You may be required to purchase other programs depending on what your site needs. However, the space is free. This is great for Clubs looking for a permanent home for their website. If you do not have a website, then it is a great place to use as back up space for your personal computer data.
Private WebMail System (Your Address) - The difference between this and the GoVettes email address is that the address is the name of your website, i.e., gary.shutes@yoursitename.com You choose the name (depending on availability) and we have a mail system to create additional email addresses--up to 10 of them—great for the entire family. There have been some great Corvette names already created. What a way to highlight your Corvette than with its own website?
Posting Events - Anyone may submit events, but only Members at certain levels can post directly to the GoVettes events page.
